There are a handful of other humans mentioned in The Host by other characters that we don’t actually meet:
Kevin
Status: former host to Racing Song; deceased
Personal Information: Kevin was a human host who forcefully resisted a Soul named Racing Song, and took his body back during periods of ‘blackouts’ for Racing Song. During one of those episodes, Kevin attacked a Healer and attempted to cut Racing Song out of his body with a scalpel. He was then disposed of. The ordeal affected Racing Song so much that even after he was implanted into another younger host, he still referred to himself as Kevin.
Jodi
Status: Host to Sunny
Physical appearance: She has a very tiny, curvy figure and tan skin. She also has black eyes and long, curly black hair.
Family: Kyle (significant other), Doris (mother)
Age: 27
Personal Information: Jodi became host to Sunny before she was aware of the invasion. Jodi’s awareness faded when Sunny was inserted. Six years later, when Sunny was removed from Jody’s body in the caves, Jodi’s body did not become Jodi. It stayed unconscious, and Sunny was re-inserted.
Gladys
Status: Either a host or deceased
Physical Appearance: Gladys is described as stocky, with red hair (314).
Family: Walter (husband)
Personal Information: We learn about Gladys in Chapter 31 when Walter, delusional from pain, mistakes Wanderer for Gladys while she comforts him.
Linda Stryder
Status: Host
Family: Trev (husband), Melanie (daughter), Jamie (son)
Personal Information: All that we know about Linda Stryder is through Melanie’s memories of her. In one of those memories, it is implied by Uncle Jeb that Linda was the first member of Melanie and Jamie’s immediate family to become a host (87). We also know that she didn’t particularly like visiting her in-laws, who were dubbed by her husband as “the Crazies.” (87)
Trev Stryder
Status: Host
Family: Jeb (brother), Maggie (sister), Guy (brother), Linda (wife), Jamie (son), Melanie (daughter)
Personal Information: Trev is described as the most normal out of his siblings, “the Crazies.” They were “the most devoted of conspiracy theorists,” (87) but it was this natural paranoia and mistrust that allowed his brother Jeb to escape becoming a host. His brother Guy was killed in a car wreck before the invasion. Melanie and Jamie’s father became a host when he left home one day and didn’t come back when he was supposed to (85). When his body came back afterward, the Soul inhabiting him was trying to lead the Seekers to his children (300). In one of Melanie’s memories we learn that Trev used unique phrases and words to describe things, such as “twenty-three skidoo, salad days, [and] nosy parker.” (295) One of the most memorable was the phrase “safe as houses,” which he used to comfort or reassure Jamie and Melanie.
Just before the conclusion of The Host, the members of Jeb‘s cave community make a startling discovery while on a raid: other human pockets of resistance. It seems that each rebel group of humans (referred to as ‘cells’) has a leader, and they enjoy trading and interacting with members of other human cells.
Nate
Status: Human
Physical appearance: He has dark brown eyes, curly dark hair with spots of white at his temples and brown wrinkled skin.
Nate is the leader of his rebel cell. They meet Jared and his group while on a raid, and it is from Nate they learn of the existence of other human cells. Nate refers to Burns, the native Soul in his cell, as his best friend.
Rob
Status: Human
Physical appearance: Rob is described as a “small dark man.” (618)
Evan
Status: Human
Family: Evan is in a relationship with Ellen from Gail’s cell.
Other Members: Blake, Tom, Kim, Rachel

Personal Information: Gail is the only female cell leader that we know of.
