I think The Host…is an amazing book. In this book we see that Stephanie Meyer has grown as a writer. In the story we see that our world has been taken over by aliens that have taken over human bodies, making them Host. In the story we follow the character of Melanie that is fighting for her body as she has been taken over by a Soul (what the aliens call themselves). However, this Soul doesn’t turn out to be like the others. Wanderer along with Melanie still in her head alive begin a journey together to protect the ones that Melanie loves and Wanderer ends up loving also. The reason that I enjoyed this story is not only because of the Sci-fi factor of the story but also the human side of the story. The story sends the message of the strength of family, friendship, and love.
When I first heard that Stephenie Meyer was releasing this book and I read its synopsis, I was already hooked. An alien invasion mixed in with romantic entanglements? What more could I ask for? Having enjoyed the Twilight series, I knew that The Host was going to be a great story. I was definitely not let down.
Perhaps my favourite thing about this story is its characters. Each of them, even the ones I don’t like, left an impression on me. It sounds so cliché to say, but they felt like ~real people, and not just made up characters in a story. I loved their interactions and also how I was able to see them each grow in their own ways, especially the humans.
The story of an alien invasion on Earth is by no means “original’, but Stephenie Meyer made The Host a truly original story.
I think The Host is one of my favorite books of all time. It was such a refreshing change from Twilight, how it was much more adult in its language and prose. I fell in love with all of the characters both major and minor and I wanted it to never end. I wanted to know more about everyone and it made me think about what it truly means to be “human” about how we treat people “not like us”.
I think The Host is much more than Twilight – of course, I was one of those Twilight fans – but now, with The Host it’s much better.

Twilight was… flattery, but The Host is about true love, about human life. What I’ve learned is that you have to fight for everything that you want so badly.
The Host was amazing!
I agree with Julia. The Host is so much better than Twilight. I mean Twilight is so fantasy but the Host is normal. I can relate to it. Also the characters are so normal and not vampires or werewolves.
I think The Host… is the BEST book ever written. The characters were amazing and I loved them all so much. The love square in it was really cool and I thought the idea of souls and two people in one body was really interesting and unlike any other book I have read.
The book made me laugh and it made me cry because it was so good. The story was really good and when I first started it I didn’t expect it to be as good as it really was. Even though I’m a big Twilight fan, I was surprised to find 0ut that I like The Host more than The Twilight Saga. But I LOVE them both.
It’s is definitely one of MY FAVOURITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME and I love all the characters and everything about it.
I really really cant wait for the film.
THE HOST FOREVER!!
<3
You know what, it was kind of really hard for me to finish reading the first few chapters and the name of the souls were just freaking me out. But as I kept going the story got really intense and captivating. And now this is one of my most favourite books. Great story, awesome characters. Definitely a ‘must read’.
I think The Host… was an amazing read. I read it once and loved it. Then I read it a second time and ended up reading faster to get to the good parts.
This book really showed how much Stephanie’s writing has improved. It’s almost like these characters were real.
Absolutely fantastic.
I think The Host… owns Twilight. In my own opinion, I think that The Host is five times better than the whole Twilight saga. No offense to Twilight lovers but I’m just saying that it’s better since I can never get tired of The Host. I keep reading it over and over again that I lost count on how many times I read the book. I cant wait for the sequels.
The Host is my favourite book. I had read Twilight and was skeptical about The Host. I started reading it and was a little confused as it was not what I expected. It is very intelligent, cliff hangers on the end of every chapter made me read 400 pages in the space of a few hours. I felt for Wanderer more than Mel in the end, even crying when things where not working out for our heroine. The way Stephenie writes just draws you in and she is my favourite writer; she just gets better and better. I hope she brings out The Host 2 from the Seeker’s point of view. I think that would be really interesting… or from Jared’s.
I’m a huge twilight fan…I thought I would never find books as good as twilight. But then I found the host, and it freaked me out at first because i didn’t know what in the world was going on with th souls and the elevator shaft and the seeker. But as I read on,i fell in love with it, and with the characters (mostly ian :p)…Then the second time I read it, I loved it even more, and the third time , and the fourth time, and- well, you get the point
I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE MOVIE AND THE SEQUEL. THE HOST RULES!!
