I’m glad to announce that we’ve added and expanded on some pages in The Novel section. Many visitors of this fansite and members of our LJ comms have expressed interest in some of the more minor details in Stephenie Meyer’s ‘Hostverse‘, so we’ve been busy at work, picking out all of the facts and organizing them for you here! These pages include:

• Other Humans in Jeb’s Cell: Maggie, Sharon, Wes, Lily, etc.
• Planets and their Species: a list of all the worlds mentioned in The Host, including descriptions on the species that reside on each planet

In addition, a Quotes Archive has also been added to the site. This page is still a work in progress as there are an abundance of awesome lines and quotes in the book, so be sure to check back often. As we put the finishing touches on the rest of The Novel section, feel free to let us know what your favourite quotes are in the shoutbox on the left sidebar, and we’ll be sure to include them if they aren’t already included!

We’re not completely finished revamping the section, but I hope this suffices in the meantime! Stay tuned for some exciting developments

I was just updating the buttons in the sidebar that reach to different parts of our network. This site is not the only place on the net we reside. Check out some of your other options:

• Twitter: Follow us and get the latest news updates on your twitter page
• Facebook: If you’re more of a facebook-ophile become a fan there and also get the latest news or just make us happy and say that you “like” The Host Fan
• Tumblr: Our tumblr doesn’t cover news but it has completely unique content from the site; lots of lovely fanart, quotes, songs, casting discussion, etc.
• YouTube: Currently our video vault for some amazing The Host fanmade trailers and videos
• Formspring: Ask us anything and we’ll answer to the best of out ability
• Last.fm: Become part of The Host group and meet fellow fans with similar music tastes

We’ve decided to open a formspring account because many of you have questions you’ve been asking us through other means. Any news of a sequel or casting news we will let you know of at the site, but if you have any other questions we will happily answer them to the best of our ability. We were getting such crazy-ridiculous amounts of spam on the Reasons We Love The Host page that submissions will now be screened and added manually by the staff. Sorry for the inconvenience in the time lapse, but there were hundreds a day and it was just getting in the way of the actual reasons people had written. (Plus, some were lewd links.)

Speaking of which, we only have 120 Reasons We Love The Host and our goal was 201. Why don’t you head on over to the page and submit a reason that you love The Host?

Thanks to a suggestion to our last post, we now have a live chatbox in the sidebar. We hope that all you fans will enjoy it and use it responsibly. If it becomes just another magnet for spambots, however, we may have to remove it – so chat while you can!

Remember, there’s always The Host Fan Forum, a board where you can discuss and have more in-depth conversations, but we understand the urge to just chat. So check it out!

We are working busily behind the scenes on additional content for the site, but we’d like to know your opinion on what you’d like more of here, since it might help us focus our efforts.

Since we’ve had a couple of inquiries lately, we just wanted to mention that we are not currently looking for new staff for the site. We appreciate that anyone would want to join us, but right now there just isn’t enough work to justify it. If the work becomes too much for the three of us once the movie is released, let’s say, we will mention our need for staff here and take applications. Until then, we’ve got it handled, but thanks!

One of our affiliates, the Open Book Society, is looking for new staff members. If you’re interested, you can check here or here for more information. They cover The Host news as well as a ton of other books, so maybe that will pique the interest of a few of you.

We hope that those of you who have come across our site due to our breaking news about the contents of the bonus chapter will add us to your bookmarks.

Here at The Host Fan, try to not only bring you the latest news, but the largest active Fanfiction Archive and Fan Art Gallery that are exclusively for The Host. We also have detailed chapter summaries for half the book (and are working on the rest!) and bring you fun extras, like streaming music playlists compiled by fans.

We have opened a Facebook page for this site. We hope you FB-addicts will join!

Also, we have added a translator to the site. (It can be seen at the bottom of the sidebar.) The Host has many international fans and though many of you probably know English, or else you wouldn’t be here in the first place, we hope this will help. Note: We have no control over the translations or their accuracy. The translator uses Google Translate and any errors are theirs and not ours. We also apologize for all the languages that are not included.

On a related note, we would like to give a shout-out to our international The Host affiliate sites: The Host Russia and SeelenSwert.
