Merchandise Giveaway 2: Facebook

We opened a new Facebook page: The Host Fans. (Everything there will continue to work as it did, but we needed a simpler name.)

Since we’re opening a new page, we thought we’d give you an incentive and make it a giveaway! Just “like” us at our new Facebook page. Once we get to 200 followers, we’ll have a random drawing to win this awesome The Host deck:



All you have to do is be in our first 200 Facebook followers!

Unfortunately since these beautiful decks are so heavy (and therefore costly for us to ship), we have to restrict this giveaway to residents of the US and Canada. We apologize, but we are only poor students.

The amazing Hobo Skate Company is currently the only company that makes The Host officially licensed merchandise. They have 5 different types of shirts and 3 deck designs and each piece is printed with Stephenie Meyer’s signature. How awesome is that?

Now here comes the even better part: Hobo Skate has been kind enough to send us some The Host merchandise to give away! We have 5 beautiful t-shirts and 3 amazing decks. We will be giving them away in different ways that include, but are not limited to: simple giveaways, speed questions, and twitter membership. This means frequent visits to the site give you a leg up in winning. ;)

The people have spoken: congratulations to wonderlot for winning our first fanfic competition! In return, she will be receiving her own paperback copy of The Host! OwlinAMinor and luvforever fought valiantly to take second and third, respectively, and will each be receiving a banner for their fic. Thanks also to OhMarvelousThings who entered after voting had begun, but submitted her work anyway.

I think you’ll all agree that we, the readers, are the true winners here. Now with just over 200 members and 50 pieces of fic with 117 chapters, The Fanfiction Archive is the place to be for excellent The Host fanfic! :)

I’m sorry I haven’t gotten the voting up for our Fanfiction Contest, The Smoochies up yet. I am sick and Lindsey has family in town. I will do my best to do it today or tomorrow. You can start by reading the entries, there are only 3, so you are ready to vote when I post the poll.

To anyone who wants to enter but hasn’t had a chance, if you can get it in before I post the voting it will count otherwise I don’t feel like I can extend the contest again. I will be honest, I hate that we got so few entries since I thought this could be fun and we got no free copies of the paperback from Back Bay Books so I will be buying one for the winner.

I just hope that when we get movie news that it will excite the fanbase again!

We still only have three entries for the fanfiction contest that ends on July 1! Your chances of winning your own paperback copy of The Host are very good. Even if you have a copy already, do it for the glory of winning! The top three winners will receive a banner depicting their fanfic and all three fics will be the “Featured Stories” in the sidebar of the Fanfic Archive – giving extra publicity to their fic. The rules and guidelines were posted a month ago when the contest started, but can still be found at here at The Host Fan Fanfiction Archive.

The Smoochies: a Reboot

There have been five great kisses since 1642 B.C… And the precise rating of kisses is a terribly difficult thing, often leading to great controversy, because although everyone agrees with the formula of affection times purity times intensity times duration, no one has ever been completely satisfied with how much weight each element should receive. But on any system, there are five that everyone agrees deserve full marks.

Alright, since only one person entered “The Smoochies” Fanfiction Contest the first time, we’re trying again, this time with added incentive…



Having trouble finding the bonus chapter? Want a copy of your own that you can read over and over? Well, enter and you could WIN your very own paperback copy of The Host!


Guidelines and Instructions:
1) Entrants shall write a fanfic for The Host in which you describe -in detail- the ultimate kiss. The kiss can be lovely/romantic/passionate/sexy/dangerous/platonic… it’s totally up to you, but it has to be completely amazing.
2) The fic must revolve around the kiss or build up to the kiss (i.e. the kiss should be the climax of the story).
3) To enter, all you have to do is submit your fanfic at our subsite, The Host Fan Fanfiction Archive, and put it in the category “Contest: The Smoochies.”
4) Any pairing(s) are welcome and the kiss can be between anyone (slash or het).
5) The highest rating allowed is R, so that means no sex – this is a kiss fest, not a kink fest – and we want people of all ages to be able to vote.
6) There is no word limit, but the fic must be a one-shot since this challenge has a deadline. (You are, however, allowed to write sequels or additional chapters after the challenge is over.)

The deadline to submit fics is July 1, 2010. (So you have an entire month to write.) Voting will go up the next day here, at the main page of TheHostFan.com, and visitors will have one week to vote. In one week the polls will close and the top three fics with the greatest number of votes will be determined. The first place winner will receive a paperback copy of The Host, sent to their front door, no matter where they live. (This is not just a contest for those in the USA.) Second and third place winners will receive a banner made depicting their fanfic by the lovely Melody and all three fics will be the “featured stories” in the sidebar of the Fanfiction Archive.

It’s Saint Patrick’s Day, but this year the Irish are sharing their kisses! ;)
