According to Acting-Auditions.org as of today, July 24, The Host has officially entered pre-production mode and casting has begun in Los Angeles.
There is no other new information, but if you are an actor interested in auditioning for The Host movie you should probably read the article.
We’ve inserted a form, making it easier to contact us if you have any personal issues. Remember though that we do have a formspring for more general questions.
We’ve been asked 3 questions at the formspring. Should I bring over the questions and answers for every few questions we’re asked or just leave them at the formspring for people to check?
Today we feature “As You Are” by Travis from Stephenie Meyer’s playlist for The Host. This song is meant from Wanderer’s perspective and it addresses her complex relationship with the distrustful humans, especially Jared.
Everyday I wake up alone because
I’m not like all the other boys
And ever since I was young
I had no choice
But it’s OK to lead me on
I must admit it’s not much fun
To be led on by such a one
As you are

For her annotated playlist, this is the quote from the book that Meyer thought best described the moment when this song played in her head:
Wanderer’s POV
Because I was in love with him, no matter that it was unwilling. I had to look at Jared before I left. Mel wanted this, too, but wished that she could somehow exclude me from the process.
He was staring at me. I had a feeling his eyes had been on me for a long time. His face was carefully composed, but there was a surprise and suspicion in there again. It made me tired. What would be the point of acting out a charade now, even if I were that talented a lair? Walter would never stand up for me again. I couldn’t sucker him anymore.
I met Jared’s gaze for one long second, then turned to hurry down the pitch-black corridor that was brighter than his expression.

If there is a particular song you’d like us to feature in the future, please feel free to mention it in the comments.

The people have spoken: congratulations to wonderlot for winning our first fanfic competition! In return, she will be receiving her own paperback copy of The Host! OwlinAMinor and luvforever fought valiantly to take second and third, respectively, and will each be receiving a banner for their fic. Thanks also to OhMarvelousThings who entered after voting had begun, but submitted her work anyway.
I think you’ll all agree that we, the readers, are the true winners here. Now with just over 200 members and 50 pieces of fic with 117 chapters, The Fanfiction Archive is the place to be for excellent The Host fanfic!
An article from MTV news announces Andrew Niccol’s new project will be “I’m.mortal.” Since Niccol is both screenwriter and director for The Host movie, there is a possibility that this new project will interfere with his schedule. The article says nothing definitive, but instead suggests:
[Niccol's] currently at work on “The Cross”… It was thought he’d follow that up with an adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s “The Host,” but with the “I’m.mortal” cast starting to firm up, that may well come first.

This movie posted by VanessaGerrits is just one of many she has created. This lovely one features the desert scene we’re so used to but has a beautiful picture of Camilla Belle illustrating the shy, demure demeanor of Wanderer. All of it is capped off by a smattering of stardust.
Note: I have deleted all the accounts in the gallery that do not have any uploaded pictures. There were just tons of spam accounts and since now we disabled comments (also because of spam), there’s no reason to have accounts that don’t upload art. So if you found your account has been deleted, it’s nothing personal, please just create another when you’d like to upload any art.
So don’t forget to visit The Host Fan Gallery for more lovely art and upload your own while you’re there!
So the script has been written, but casting has yet to begin. EXCITING!

Thanks to Alison for the heads-up! Remember, if you come across any news, don’t hesitate to email us!
We’ve decided to open a formspring account because many of you have questions you’ve been asking us through other means. Any news of a sequel or casting news we will let you know of at the site, but if you have any other questions we will happily answer them to the best of our ability. Our formspring is here, but you can also use the widget below:
According to the awesome Anne, who has done some calculations for us, the average age of The Host fans (that visit this site) is 21 and the greatest number are in the 16-18 range. This makes us slightly younger than a Twilight poll that concluded the average age was 22 and the greatest number of responders were in the 19-21 age group.
Interesting stuff! Now as another fan, Emily, pointed out, this poll doesn’t take emotional maturity into account. That would be too complicated to try to quantify, however, and we also have no similar Twilight poll to compare it to.
Vote in the poll, if you haven’t already, and with a larger sample size we can continue to try to determine the true age of Meyer’s adult novel fans.
